Trans-Oceanic Wind Transport |
Anemos and Artemis, currently the world's largest sail freighters, offer a modern, cost-effective, reliable and optimized logistics solution, based on the innovative use of proven technologies for sailing and cargo operations. They have been crossing the Atlantic since late Summer 2024 with 3,000 square meters of sail, operated by a crew of seven. With an average speed of 10 knots (18.5 km/h), sail ships are slower than conventional cargo ships, which typically travel at 14 to 20 knots (25 to 35 km/h). However, the environmental benefits are clear, as emissions are reduced. By relying on wind energy, they avoid the release of 150 to 200 tonnes of CO2 during each ocean crossing. |
